I wanted to take a moment today to remind you of something simple, but important: It’s ok if you’re not ok. Let that sink in for a second. We often don’t allow ourselves the time, or even the permission to just be where we are in any given moment. I am absolutely guilty of this too. The world feels challenging right now in so many ways, and a lot of people are overwhelmed. That makes sense. When we keep pushing through without acknowledging what we’re actually feeling or what’s happening in our body, it builds up. We end up in survival mode without even realizing it, just trying to get through the day. And if you’re like me, you might be judging yourself against your best days. I recently heard someone say this about people with chronic health issues (hi, that’s me 🙋♀️), and it was such a lightbulb moment. I realized I was measuring every day against a really good day—and when I didn’t meet that version of myself, I was unkind to myself. That kind of self-judgment can show up everywhere: work, relationships, health, family. As a recovering perfectionist, I can tell you… that voice still sneaks in sometimes. Wanting to be 100% all the time. We both know that’s not realistic. And trying to live that way can take a real toll on your body. So, I want to remind you again: It’s ok if you don’t feel ok right now. Take a deep breath. Just acknowledge how you’re feeling in this moment. Because when we acknowledge what’s happening, something shifts. There’s a release. We bring awareness to it, instead of letting it build up underneath and come out sideways later. I notice this in myself, when I’m anxious and keep pushing forward, things that normally wouldn’t bother me suddenly feel like a lot. My threshold is already maxed out. I know it can feel like there’s no time in the day to pause. And honestly, that’s understandable. When you’re used to holding everything together, there can be this fear that if you give yourself even a little bit of grace… everything might fall apart. I get that. I really do. I spent years spinning all the plates, making sure nothing hit the ground. And what I’ve learned is this: When we take even a few moments to acknowledge ourselves, we actually create more space. Not the opposite. We’re often told to “just push through,” “it’s not that bad,” or “other people have it worse.” That doesn’t actually help us. One of the things I do with my clients, and something my friends do for me, is we name everything that’s being carried. When you actually list it all out or say it out loud, you can see how much you’re handling. And of course, you feel overwhelmed! Survival mode creates tunnel vision. It’s not that you’re doing anything wrong, that’s just how it works. So, let’s take another deep breath together. Exhale anything that isn’t working for you. And offer yourself the same patience, love, and compassion you give to the people you care about. I know that’s not always easy. I’m still practicing this myself. And I also know that when I do… I feel better. My body feels better. Sometimes there’s a belief that if we acknowledge what’s bothering us, we’ll create more of it. That can happen if we stay there long-term. Acknowledging what’s happening in the moment? That’s different. That’s awareness. And from awareness, we get to make conscious choices. Honoring what’s happening in your body, your emotions, your thoughts-is one of the ways we stay present and begin to gently guide our lives in the direction we want. I’ll leave you with this: It’s ok to not be ok. I see you. You are not alone. If reading this brought anything up for you or helped you notice something you hadn’t slowed down enough to see before… that awareness matters more than you think. You don’t have to hold it all on your own. Everything I offer is centered around one core belief: When you see yourself differently, your entire world can change. If you’ve been feeling the pull for something more, or you’re ready to shift into a new chapter, I’d love to support you. You can book directly on the website!
